Freedom Now Fest is an annual community festival held on Lancaster Avenue in West Philadelphia honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1965 Freedom Now Rally speech. The festival brings together live music, art, food, film, wellness activations, youth programming, local businesses, and community organizations for a day of remembrance, celebration, and connection.
Yes. The historic Freedom Now Rally marker at 40th & Lancaster serves as a central gathering point for commemorative programming and acknowledgements throughout the day. Guests will also have the opportunity to view the Lancaster Living Legacy Bell, part of Bells Across PA , a statewide public art exhibition presented in partnership with America250PA and Mural Arts Philadelphia. Designed by artist Akira Gordon, the bell celebrates the spirit of West Philadelphia and Lancaster Avenue through vibrant imagery honoring community, history, local businesses, green spaces, the historic trolley system, and influential figures including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
